Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group, receives the 2017 CNBC Outstanding Business Leader Award in recognition of his stellar leadership qualities

Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group, received the 2017 CNBC Outstanding Business Leader Award. Presented by Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister of Law and Justice, Government of India, the Award is a recognition of Mr. Birla’s stellar leadership qualities – “epitomising strength, equanimity, ingenuity, knowledge, foresight and driving the business with vision and inspiration”.

In his speech, Mr. Birla said, “When we took a fresh start in 1995, with 60,000 people in six countries, we wanted to be a premium conglomerate that can run several businesses successfully. Today, with a 120,000-strong Team ABG with presence in 34 countries, we are a young, dynamic and energetic, multinational, multi-cultural organisation. From a turnover of $2 billion in 1995, today our turnover is $43 billion, reflecting a journey of acquisition, transformation and consolidation.”

Instituted in 2006, the CNBC-TV18 India Business Leader Awards are “Asia’s most distinguished awards for excellence in leadership.”
