South Korea

Aditya Birla Group has a strong foothold in South Korea through its leading sustainable aluminium solutions provider, Novelis, and leading carbon black speciality solutions provider, Birla Carbon.
In South Korea, Novelis has an office in Seoul and two manufacturing facilities in Ulsan and Yeongju.
Located in the industrial hub of Korea, Ulsan Aluminium Ltd. is a joint venture between Novelis and Kobe Steel focused on producing automotive and speciality sheets to meet the increasing demand for lightweight rolled aluminum products across Asia. While the company is jointly owned and operated and shares production capacities, each company is responsible for its own aluminium metal supply, production processes and certifications. The plant has recently undergone major expansions, including adding a new three-stand hot finishing mill as well as a pusher furnace and annealing furnaces.
Novelis’ Yeongju plant is a modern facility with casting, hot rolling, cold rolling, finishing and recycling capabilities. Its world-class rolling equipment produces superior flat-rolled aluminium products for high value-added applications. A state-of-the-art recycling centre, which opened in 2012, recycles used beverage cans from across Asia and casts sheet ingot. The facility primarily serves the beverage and food packaging markets, as well as the construction and electronics markets in Asia.
Birla Carbon Korea has its corporate office in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and a manufacturing unit at Yeosu City, Jeonnam.
