Germany is a key market in Europe for Aditya Birla Group. The Group’s businesses are one of the leading players across metal, carbon black, textiles, and chemicals in Germany.
Novelis has offices in Stuttgart and six manufacturing facilities across Germany. It’s Göttingen plant, located in central Germany, specialises in the surface treatment of aluminium coil. This includes the pre-treatment, lacquering and laminating of aluminium surfaces. The plant is a leader in supplying rolled aluminium for the beverage can and building and construction markets.
Founded in 1964, the Koblenz facility is one of the most capable hot rolling mills in the world for supplying plate, sheet and coil to all major industries in various standards and more than 130 customized alloys. An efficient quality-assurance system ensures the consistent quality of all aluminium products and leads to continuous process improvement.
The Novelis plant in Nachterstedt is one of the largest and most successful employers in Saxony-Anhalt and supplies high-quality rolled aluminium products to the automotive, can, industrial and construction markets worldwide. The plant's manufacturing capabilities include the latest cold rolling technology, a state-of-the-art laser workshop, and continuous annealing and finishing lines. The new, state-of-the-art and world's largest aluminium recycling centre is also located here. The world's most modern recycling plant can produce up to 400,000 tons of aluminium sheet ingots from recycled material.
Novelis’ Ohle plant is specialised in the rolling of foil used for various applications. It also produces foil trays for the food industry (OHLER® Packaging Systems), flexible tubes and hoses for the automotive industry (OHLER® Flexible Tubes) and aluminium coil cores.
The Voerde facility is a cast house that provides additional casting capacity and primarily supplies rolling ingot and billet to the Koblenz location.
Aluminium Norf GmbH is the world’s largest and most technologically advanced aluminium manufacturing facility in the world. Jointly owned by Novelis and Speira, Alunorf casts sheet ingots and rolls semi-finished products that serve a wide range of applications.
Aditya Birla Group’s chemical business has a strong presence in Germany through CTP Advanced Materials. Started in Russelsheim, Germany in 1993, CTP GmbH has grown to become a leading curing agent manufacturer in Europe. CTP AM, started in 2005, is a development and marketing company that serves the electrical & composite industry. Products for CTP-AM are manufactured by CTP, which was acquired by Aditya Birla Group in 2013. With an excellent application knowledge base in Europe, it has a strong brand image as a supplier of speciality products and solutions provider. The company markets its products under the trademark CeTePox.
Germany-based Spinnerei Lampertsmühle GmbH, a part of Aditya Birla Yarns, was incorporated in 1854. The company, with capacity – 50,000 spindles, has over 150 years of experience in the spinning industry,and two decades of experience in producing TechTex VAPs. It is one of the leading technical textile yarn manufacturers in the European Union.
Germany is also a strong market for Birla Carbon, the carbon black speciality producer of the Group. The company has an office in Hannover, Germany.
India-based Aditya Birla Power Composites Limited (ABPCL) is a joint venture between Aditya Birla Insulators (a unit of Grasim Industries Limited), the 3rd largest global Porcelain Insulator player and German company, Reinhausen Power Composites (a Unit of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH), the 2nd largest Hollow Composite Insulator player globally. The joint venture was formed in 2019.
